Christian Grey earns E.L. James the Top-Earning Author of 2013 by Forbes.

Fifty Shades of Grey author E.L. James came out as the number one earning author in the world for 2013 by Forbes with a whopping $95 million. This isn’t shocking considering Fifty Shades sold 70 million copies in the U.S. alone within the first eight months of its release.

The 50-year-old from the United Kingdom started the Fifty Shades trilogy as a fan fiction of Stephanie Meyer’s Twilight Saga. But, with a few tweaks of names and events, James’ fan fiction went on to earn much more than Meyer, who didn’t even make Forbes’ list this year.

Not only did James top the list, but she squashed the competition.  She beat out James Patterson (the number two earning author of the year) by $4 million!

And, don’t forget to look out Fifty Shades fans, because James also raked in another five million for a “Fifty Shades of Grey” movie, set to come out next August.
